I’m proud to have the endorsement of Montana Conservation Voters, who fight for our clean air, clean water, public lands, and a democracy that answers to Montanans.
My family has long held a strong connection to the land through farming and ranching, and I’ve spent my life loving Montana’s outdoors and passing that on to my kids. Clean water and open country are our inheritance. Stewardship is about as Montana as a value gets.
Protecting the Habitat Legacy Account
In 2025 the Legislature passed HB 932, which created the Habitat Legacy Account and dedicated a portion of Montana’s marijuana tax revenue to conservation and public access programs. It passed with 126 of 150 lawmakers voting yes. Hunters, anglers, ranchers, tribal governments, and conservation groups all stood behind it.
That breadth of support is the strongest argument for protecting it. When efforts come in 2027 to divert that money, I’ll remind colleagues that this funding reflects a consensus that crosses every political line in Montana, and I’ll push for public hearings that put the real impacts on the record: wildlife crossings that reduce collisions, habitat restoration on working lands, and public access projects every Montanan uses, wherever they live and however they vote.
Public lands and access
I’ll advocate for public lands staying public, for water quality, and for access to our rivers, lakes, and streams. I support sustainable wildlife management and habitat conservation, especially in partnership with Montana’s Tribal Nations, and adequate funding for the agencies that care for our land.
Data centers, done right
Large data centers are an economic opportunity, and they’re also massive users of power and water. My approach is the same one I give at every door: welcome the jobs, protect the ratepayers, and make them pay their own way. That means full cost accountability for the grid upgrades they require, strict water-use standards, genuine environmental review, and transparency in the deals behind them.
Montana has a long history of industries promising prosperity and leaving communities to manage the consequences. Smart rules that hold the largest projects accountable to our land, our ratepayers, and our neighbors are pro-Montana.
Clean energy and good jobs
Montana has the wind, the sun, and the workforce. I’ll support community solar so renters and families without suitable rooftops can take part, defend fair net metering, and back our rural electric cooperatives, which are locally owned and accountable to their members. Clean energy projects should create good union jobs, with training that connects Montana workers to them.
Thank you, Montana Conservation Voters. I’ll work to earn it.
